Sweet potatoes, also known as yam or batata (Ipomoea batatas L.) belong to the Convolvulacee family. Despite their common name, the botanical relationship with common potatoes is minimal, since the latter belong to the Solanacee family.
This species originated in the American tropical areas, where it was already cultivated over 5,000 years ago.

Thanks to the presence of Vitamin C and E, Provitamin A and Vitamin B, sweet potatoes have excellent antioxidant properties.
The extract obtained from their peel helps reduce cholesterol and improves general health.
Their peel is also beneficial to prevent and treat anaemia.
Sweet potatoes contain a lot of Vitamin D, which is produced mostly during the Summer, thanks to the exposure to sunlight. In Winter, it can be restored by consuming this product, with proven mood benefits.
Thanks to the content of Vitamin B-6, sweet potatoes reduce homocysteine, a substance related to the development of degenerative diseases.
